This month marks another round of steady progress across our flagship products, Gantt and Risksheet. We’re continuing to refine the user experience, extend configurability, and solve real-world pain points for teams working at scale.
From smarter handling of unscheduled tasks and improved dialog flexibility in Gantt, to a brand-new configuration editor and safer editing workflows in Risksheet—May is all about making daily work in Polarion smoother, faster, and more intuitive.
Let’s take a look at what’s new! 🚀
Nextedy GANTT
Gantt 25.5.0 – Smarter Defaults, Cleaner UI, and More Flexible Configurations
The Gantt 25.5.0 release introduces smarter defaults for unscheduled tasks, better configurability for team-based work items, and fixes for critical edge cases and UI details.
📅 Smarter Handling of Unscheduled Tasks
Unscheduled tasks now automatically align with the start date of their parent item—keeping your project structure clean and intuitive. This prevents scheduling conflicts and ensures child tasks remain visible and grouped logically, even if they’re created outside the Gantt view.
Why it matters: No more wondering where your newly created tasks disappeared to—by anchoring them under their parent’s timeline, you maintain visibility and context, making planning more natural and efficient. Prefer the old behavior? You can still configure tasks to start on “today” if needed.
🧩 More Flexible Team Configuration
You can now define custom Work Item type IDs to represent ‘team’ and ‘team assignment’ items, giving you more flexibility in aligning Nextedy Gantt with your existing process. If you’re already using a “team” type in your project structure, you can seamlessly adopt team-based capacity planning without restructuring—unlocking the value of integrated planning right away.
👁️ Cleaner Config Panel
The Gantt configuration panel now automatically hides settings related to the Resource view when the view itself is disabled, keeping the UI cleaner and more relevant.
🛠️ Key Fixes
Hidden dependencies no longer block updates: changes on the Gantt chart now save even if some dependency sources are hidden by filters or item limits.
Tooltip layout issues resolved: improved positioning of tooltips and corrected extra spacing when no error icon is present.
Gantt 25.5.1 – Smarter Forms, Cleaner UI, and Flexible Field Handling
The Gantt 25.5.1 release focuses on improving the editing experience and addressing small but impactful UI issues.
🗓️ Date and Assignee Fields Now Editable
You can now update date and datetime fields directly from the Gantt dialog using an intuitive calendar picker with week numbers. This removes the need to switch to the Work Item sidebar just to set due dates, planning constraints, or key milestones—saving time and helping you stay focused. It also reduces the risk of overlooking important fields by consolidating editing into one place.
In addition, we’ve made it possible to edit both Assignees and custom Resource fields side by side. This is especially useful when your project uses a dedicated Team field as the primary resource but still needs to assign individual team members for execution. Whether you’re assigning tasks to lab equipment, departments, or testers, this flexibility supports your process without compromise.
🔧 Cleaner Dialogs for Root Items and Plans
The Parent field is now automatically hidden for root items and Plans when it’s not relevant—helping users avoid confusion and unnecessary data inputs.
🛠️ Fixes and UI Touches
The Assignee picker now expands properly in dialogs with large user lists.
The filter icon tooltip now clearly explains when items are hidden due to collapsed sections.
We also fixed a case where the filter indicator was incorrectly triggered after creating a new item.
These releases bring even more flexibility, clarity, and control to Gantt—whether you’re fine-tuning schedules, managing teams, or configuring workflows. As always, we’re listening—so keep the feedback coming! 🚀
Nextedy RISKSHEET
Risksheet 25.5.0 – A New Config Editor, Better Navigation Safety, and Workflow Polishing
The Risksheet 25.5.0 release introduces powerful improvements for admins and everyday users alike, with a brand-new configuration editing experience and smarter handling of unsaved changes.
🛠️ All-New Configuration Editor
Admins can now configure Risksheet faster and more intuitively with the brand-new editor that opens in a separate window—allowing you to work with the config and the live sheet side by side. No more toggling back and forth or losing your editing context. The editor uses a clean, human-friendly YAML syntax that supports multi-line formatting for JavaScript and Velocity code, improving readability and maintainability of complex configurations.
On top of that, the editor brings powerful tools like error highlighting, version history, easy download/export, a wizard for overriding template values, and handy keyboard shortcuts. These enhancements make configuration more accessible, reduce friction in trial-and-error tuning, and provide admins with everything needed to streamline setup—saving time while avoiding costly mistakes.
📄 Editing of Velocity Templates
Velocity templates for the PDF export and top panel—risksheetPdfExport.vm and risksheetTopPanel.vm—can now be edited directly from the Risksheet interface using the new configuration editor. No more downloading, editing offline, and re-uploading. The built-in editor provides syntax highlighting and a seamless editing experience.
This change brings these supplemental configurations into clear view, making them first-class citizens alongside the main config. Admins are now more aware of their presence and better equipped to tailor Risksheet’s PDF output and top panel interface to fit specific user needs—enhancing both usability and presentation.
🔄 Smarter Cell Tracking and Navigation
Risksheet now preserves your last edited cell and scroll position after saving or refreshing, keeping you right where you left off—even in large, multi-column sheets. This enables more frequent saving without breaking your focus or disrupting your workflow.
Why it matters: you can confidently save your progress to avoid data loss, while staying in context and maintaining your editing momentum throughout complex risk assessments.
⚠️ Safety Net for Unsaved Changes
You’ll now get a clear warning before leaving the page with unsaved changes—whether you’re using browser navigation, the back button, or Polarion’s sidebar. We’ve also resolved a browser-specific issue in Chrome and Safari where canceling the discard dialog still caused data loss.
This release focuses on admin productivity, usability, and protecting your work—especially during configuration and data entry. Let us know how it works for your team! 🚀
